Southchurch Vocational College

Southchurch Vocational College has been specifically set up to help learners that have had a statement or an equivalent for Special Educational Needs at school, to further develop themselves and gain work skills.

Our purpose built College supports the needs of the learners to help them gain Entry Level and Foundation qualifications, promoting a positive work-based learning environment.

We encourage all our learners to commit to their personal programme and build upon their skills and all activities are designed to build confidence and develop day to day responsibilities.

A work placement is a key part of the programme; this will help develop the learner’s valuable employability skills. Learners are involved in the placement process enabling them to choose an environment they are interested in, supported by the College staff. They will be offered high-level support and guidance throughout their programme to ensure they achieve their short and long term aims.

Since opening in September 2004, the College has supported and assisted many learners from along the Essex side of the Thames gateway. We have helped to improve their chances of building a positive life and provide opportunities for our learners to reach their full potential.
